This is the kitchen before remodeling began. Notice the
soffits and partial walls that were removed to create added
space.
This is the area where the computer
desk and pantry are located.

This
is the final view of a finished kitchen remodeling job. The old kitchen
had limited cabinet space, no dishwasher, and was cramped behind two
partial
walls, separating the space into cooking and dining.
The new kitchen was opened up, and it created an illusion of being a
larger space. The bedroom beside this kitchen was transformed into a
dining room, and the kitchen was expanded.
Many clients wonder how long a kitchen remodeling like this one job
would take. There are several factors that determine the answer to this
"million-dollar" question:
- The technical details of the
planning stage.
- The time it takes to acquire a village permit for the job, if one is
necessary.
- The availability of the
cabinets you've chosen- (Some take as little as one week, others as
many as 6 weeks for delivery.)
Once these obstacles are taken care
of, the demolition and remodeling process is fairly straight forward.
The cabinets usually go up in about a day-and-a-half, but the
drywalling process can
take several days.
This particular kitchen was expanded by removing a load-bearing wall.
The process was very involved. A special load-bearing support beam was
installed and heating ducts were re-routed for the successful remodel
of this kitchen.
